IKEA

So there are several reasons why I love IKEA!!!

1. They finally came to UTAH!

2. They are nice but reasonably priced!

3. I can spend hours there and still only buy a spatula!

4. On the rare occasion I find a super deal that makes me smile for years to come!!!

I went up North for Conference weekend. On the way there, I decided that a little detour to IKEA, might break up the 5 hour car ride. So after making through the first level smoothly, with the boys in the cart I might add, (not quite sure how I pulled that one off) I found a toy in the kids section that I would then use as bribery for the bottom level. Worked great, we made it all the way through and as I am making my way to the check out, because all I have in my cart is salad tongs, and a apple cutter. (I told you it is worth going just to buy 2 things) Anyways I decide to take a detour to the scratch and dent / AS-IS section. I struggle passing this place, my husband on the other hand won't buy a package of toothpaste if the box is damaged. I can't stay away, I feel like I am just losing money by not looking. So I make the rounds and something catches my eye... what is is? That is right, I see the picture and I almost heard singing.

That is right, I found this cabinet. For those of you that know the struggles I have been going through to find this object that is this pictureI have painted in my brain since the beginning of building our house. I have been looking for a cabinet like this to put all of our AV equipment in and just have a nice piece of furniture. So I have been looking since the summer. I found one at the DI to re-finish, SOLD too late, I found one in Cedar, $600.00 too expensive. Seriously, I was starting to lose hope! So this is the glorious tag that is staring at me. I checked the sizing like 3 times, could this be real, I have actually found this item that is even better than what I pictured. The only problem, the box was not looking so good, so I immediately think well, I'll just set it up while Kirby is at work, and he'll never see the box. Good plan I thought, so I went for it. Look at that price people, yes you are reading it correctly $74.00 originally $300.00 I freaking ROCK!!!

So I get the not so excited to be there employee, who loads the 2 boxes onto the flat bed cart for me then says alright here you go, just take to any cash register. I looked at him with the are you serious look. So I take my kids out of the cart we ALREADY HAD!!! and put them on the flat bed and check out! So I am still pumped that I have scored such a sweet prize that I go cruising out to the van. Ya Then I remember I gotta load this by myself. So I think that adrenaline was still pumping, because I lifted those 2 heavy boxes into the van, all by myself! So I had been gone from my house for 5 hours and I had already filled the van with a piece of furniture, that is seriously a record, even for me!

When I got home, Kirby was more than thrilled to help me put it together. I think that the frustration levels escalated when he realized that there were no words in the instructions, just pictures. I mean literally no words. So as you can see from the collage the range of emotions that filled our home that night.

I plan on painting it black with a distressed finish in a few months, but I didn't want to upset my handy helper anymore. So I will have to do that project during hay season while he is fast asleep!

Here is the finished project, with my husbands enthusiastic thumbs down, don't worry he got a big fat kiss for all his efforts! He really did like it when it was all done, it was just the journey that was a challenge. But isn't that the thrill of the hunt. So until I find my next extreme bargain, this will have to tie me over until then!!

Nice socks huh, he still can't go barefoot on carpet! (BABY)

I think that it looks just like the picture, not bad for a farmer!!!

Oh ya, for those of you that haven't seen his new hair, I just hope that it grows back in the same places it was before the clippers happened.

So awesome! The best deal I've ever found was a shirt at Ross for forty-nine cents, and a skirt for a dollar. I get more comments on that skirt than any other one. Jeff thinks I'm crazy for telling everyone how cheap it was. I'm just dang proud! Bargain shopping is the best!

Sorry to bother you again. I just took a HUGE trip down memory lane. I clicked on Marcie Hansen/Bourne's blog and it took me to several other people from High School's blog. It was so fun to see what everyone is doing. I could read blogs all day!
